Travel to discover: traditions, painted monasteries, fortified churches, castles and fortresses, the Danube Delta


Day 1 - BUCHAREST – at the crossroads between Orient and Occident 
Arrival at Bucharest airport in the afternoon. Meeting point with guide: the information desk at Henry Coanda Airport; or the parking paying desk – Baneasa Airport.Transfer to your hotel/4* . Check-in. At 19h00, meet with your guide at the hotel reception and walk to a local restaurant for Dinner.

Day 2 - THE BYZANTIUM AND ITS SPLENDOUR: architecture, churches, churches 
After breakfast, departure for Curtea de Arges, the former capital of Wallachia. Lunch en route. Visit the Episcopal Church (built 1512-1517) where the Romanian Kings are buried. Drive along the picturesque Olt Valley to Sibiu, one of the oldest towns in Transylvania - formerly Hermannstadt - founded by the Saxon colonists. Guided walking tour of the medieval town (the Main Square, the Evangelical Church, the Liars' Bridge etc.).depart for Sibiel- the village which was awarded the prize “Pomme d’Or by FIJET. Visit the Museum of Icons. Dinner and overnight stay at guest house, so you could see for yourself villagers’ life.

Morning departure to Sighisoara, birthplace of Vlad the Impaler . En-route, visit the fortified Church at Biertan. We arrive at Sighisoara and discover the medieval Citadel, included in UNESCO World Heritage: the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill, the roofed stairways etc. Lunch at the House of Dracula restaurant. Continue to Targu Mures, walking tour through the elegant city centre, well known for its architecture: the Palace of Culture, the Orthodox Churches, the Teleki-Bolyai library. Drive on to Bistrita and visit the Gothic Cathedral. It is the place where Jonathan Harker, Bram Stoker’s hero spent the night before arriving at Dracula Castle. Dinner and overnight stay in 3 star centrally located hotel.
After dinner: optional night walking tour.

Departure to Bucovina - land of the unique painted monasteries, belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage. Crossing ther land of Dracula, wonderfully depicted in Bram Stocker’s novel “Dracula”. Arrive at Campulung Moldovenesc and visit the Wooden Museum. Lunch in a local, traditional restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Moldovita and Sucevita monasteries - treasures of the medieval Moldavian art and the village of Marginea - very well known for its black pottery. Drive on to Gura Humorului for dinner and overnight stay at Gura Humorului / 4*hotel. 

In the morning, visit Voronet Monastery called “the Sistine Chapel of the East’; we continue driving through the Moldavian villages. Visit Neamt monastery, built in the 14 century, which was an important cultural centre and an example for all Moldavian churches. Lunch will be served at the monastery with wine and “tuica” (traditional drink). Continue with visit to Agapia monastery – the greatest monastic complex . In the afternoon., drive along the Bicaz Lake and its impressive dam, to admire the scenic view. Cross the Bicaz Gorges – on foot , if weather is fine; continue to Lacu Rosu ( the Red Lake ) resort for visit / photo stop Dinner and overnight at Gheorgheni/3*hotel .

Day 6 - BRASOV - former KRONSTADT
Departure to Brasov; stop-over at Prejmer for visit the fortified church, also included in the UNESCO World Heritage. Drive on to Bran to visit the famous medieval castle built as a fortress - The "Dracula's" Castle – for the citizens of Brasov in 1377. with view to defence the city. Ptince Vlad used the Castle as a general headquarters during his incursions in Transylvania . For many years, it has been an interesting medieval art museum. Lunch in a locat restaurant in Bran. Arrive at Brasov, formerly Kronstadt, founded by the Saxon colonists. Walking tour through the old town centre, including the Black Church, the Council Square, the Hirche House, the baroque style buildings from the Austro-Hungarian times. Typical dinner & wine tasting & show at the famous restaurant “The Carpathian Stag”

In the morning drive across the mountains to Sinaia, named the “Pearl of the Carpathians”. Visit the famous Peles Castle, an exquisite piece of architecture, with its art and armoury collections etc. The Castle served as the summer residence of the Romanian Royal family. Lunch in Sinaia – hunting specially. Continue to Bucharest for panoramic tour of the city of contrasts between old and modernity, with its large boulevards and magnificent buildings ( the Romanian Athenaeum, the Patriarhal Church, Visit the Village Museum – one of the largest open-air museum in Europe. Check-in 4*hotel / Bucharest. Walking tour in the old city. Farewell dinner in a lovely brasserie, keeping immortal the old time of Bucharest spiirit.

After breakfast, visit the House of Parliament, built 1984 – 1989, the second largest building in the world, with unique marble decorations, wooden sculptures made of rare essence aso. Transfer to the airport for your return flight. End of our service.

Day 9, Sunday: Trip to the Danube Delta for the whole day with fish menu lunch. Dinner and overnight in Tulcea.
Day 10, Monday: In the morning departure to Bucharest airport for your return flight
